Overview of Tournament
About the Leopalace 21 Myanmar Open
Between the time it was founded in 1996 and 2016, the Myanmar Open went through three periods during which circumstances forced cancellation. Since then, it has been the gem of the golf culture in Myanmar as the country’s only official professional golf tournament on the Asian Tour. Todd Sinnott took first prize in 2017. Other winners over the years include such notable names in the world of professional golf as Shaun Norris, Tetsuji Hiratsuka, Chawalit Plaphol, Boonchu Ruangkit, Thongchai Jaidee, Lin Kengchi, James Kingston, Anthony Kang, and Kieran Pratt to make this a top draw not only in Myanmar, but throughout Asia.
The 2018 tournament will take place from Thursday, January 25 to Sunday, January 28.
About the Pun Hlaing Golf Club
Opened in 2000, this golf club was designed by Gary Player and is known as one of the best-built golf clubs in Yangon. Although flat, the well-manicured fairways excel at draining rainwater and are surrounded by greenery. Bunkers can also be found throughout, making it a highly-strategic golf club.
